Who we are

The Child Safeguarding Practice Review Panel (“the Panel”) is an independent body that looks at the most serious incidents of child abuse and neglect, particularly where a child has died or been seriously harmed, to identify learning that can strengthen the safeguarding system.

The Panel is sponsored by the Department for Education (DfE). For the purposes of data protection legislation, the Department for Education is the data controller for personal data processed through this website.

Data retention

Personal data collected through this website is retained only for as long as necessary for the purposes described in this notice and is then securely deleted.

For personal data (email addresses) collected using the email alerts service, this data will be retained for as long as the user has an active subscription. Users can cancel their subscription at any time buy following the ‘unsubscribe’ link in their email. After this, their email address will be scheduled for permanent deletion, which will take place within 7 days. 

Who we share personal data with

We may share limited personal data with trusted third‑party service providers who support the operation of our website. This may include:

  • our website hosting provider
  • analytics providers such as Google Analytics, which helps us understand how visitors use the site

These providers are only allowed to process personal data on our behalf and in accordance with our instructions.

We do not use this website to collect or share personal data with payment processors or customer relationship management (CRM) systems

If you choose to sign up to our newsletter via the link provided on this website, your email address and any information you submit will be processed by Mailchimp in accordance with their privacy policy. This information is used solely for the purpose of sending newsletters and updates.
