High-profile child safeguarding incidents can place intense pressure on the children, families, local safeguarding children partnerships and practitioners involved. This document aims to provide support and practical guidance to help partnerships navigate complex, high-profile incidents, public scrutiny and public inquiries.
Drawing on learning from previous inquiries and safeguarding reviews, it provides partnerships with information about managing competing demands, making informed decisions about local child safeguarding practice reviews, preparing and supporting witnesses and core participants, connecting with peers who have faced similar challenges, and maintaining a focus on improving outcomes for children. Our aim is to support multi-agency leaders and practitioners to respond with confidence, transparency and a commitment to learning when public concern is at its highest.
