This national review sets out recommendations and findings for government and local safeguarding partners to protect children at risk of criminal exploitation. It was our first national review and was published in 2020.
It is a qualitative study of 21 cases from 17 local areas regarding children who died or experienced serious harm where criminal exploitation was a factor.
It aims to identify what might be done differently by practitioners to improve approaches to protecting children who find themselves threatened with violence and serious harm by criminal gangs. It includes fieldwork across English regions and reflects discussions with over 100 practitioners, 21 parents/carers and 6 children.
